Hi, I'm Jonathon - but you can call me Link. Recently, I've noticed I talk about MMORPG features quite a bit, and I wanted to bring my discussions to the masses.
I remember when all of my friends thought it was ludicrous to subscribe to a game for $15 a month. Nowadays, almost all of my friends are subscribed to one or more pay-to-play MMO's, and undoubtedly several free-to-play RPG's as well.
Since our early days in MMO history, we eagerly awaited new releases, both free and P2P, hoping that this one would have all of the features we hoped for in an MMORPG.
It's not a new idea. The perfect MMORPG. A daunting task for any developer. But for the sake of this blog, let's assume we have a limitless budget and staff. Our mission is to set out and create the perfect MMORPG (in our minds for now :P). Throughout the course of this blog, we'll get to the bottom of many issues of modern MMO's, and bring back some of the forgotten features of MMO's past.
Obviously, perfect is going to mean something different to each of us. But that's what the comment section is for, and exactly the type of discussions I want to be having on this blog. What does perfect mean to you?
As posts roll out and discussions come to a close, I'll slowly piece together a game design document, outlining everything we've decided on. Knowing full well this will probably never be developed - I'm just in it for the discussion.
